New Kona Enhances Electrification Vision with Advanced Features and Extended Range

Hyundai's all-new Kona, including the electric variant, is spearheading the automaker's IONIQ electrification vision with the aim to offer an extensive product package in the B-SUV segment. The Kona Electric sports a 65.4-kWh battery providing an impressive 490 km of all-electric range, according to WLTP estimates.

Hyundai's new approach to car development began with the EV design, reflecting the company’s ambitious electrification strategy announced in 2022. The Kona Electric, with its class-leading range and advanced features, is set to be a cornerstone of Hyundai's green mobility solutions.

The all-new Kona features increased dimensions compared to the previous model, along with a selection of improved technologies for a safer, more connected, and comfortable driving experience. These include dual 12.3-inch panoramic display screens, full Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates, and a new Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC).

Kona Electric boasts an array of EV-specific design elements and features like frunk storage, active air flaps, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) outlets, i-PEDAL driving mode, and Smart Regenerative System. Additionally, the new model is equipped with Hyundai’s Smart Sense Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), ensuring high safety standards on the road.

With the enhanced dimensions, Hyundai has designed a larger interior space, accommodating a broader range of lifestyles. The layout includes a floating horizontal C-Pad with integrated dual 12.3-inch panoramic display screens and a relocated shift-by-wire gear selector for more storage space.

The all-new Kona supports a wide range of EV-specific features for a better driving experience, including battery preconditioning, a new charging port door lamp, and a HUD displaying crucial information for drivers. The V2L function can power any device or charge electrical equipment, providing both interior and exterior outlets for convenience.

The new Kona also offers continuous OTA software updates, allowing owners to maintain their cars with the latest software conveniently. Other features include the Digital Key 2 Touch, an immersive dual 12.3-inch panoramic display, and the Bose Premium Sound System.

In terms of safety, the second-generation Kona includes advanced Hyundai Smart Sense ADAS features that are not commonly found in other B-SUVs. These include the Driver Status Monitor (DSM), Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA), and Blind-spot View Monitor (BVM).

The all-new Kona Electric comes with various specifications, including a maximum driving range of over 490 km (long-range option), power of 160 kW (long range) and 114.6 kW (standard range), and a boot/trunk space of up to 466 liters. The Kona Electric is available in a wide range of exterior and interior colors.
